During the latter half of 2010 Convergence managed several two high profile media relations projects for Dynamic controls which is the world’s largest manufacturer of wheelchair controllers and also undertakes contract manufacturing of other high-tech electronic products. The first involved an international product launch for which we supplemented our international media distribution list with influential bloggers in the disability sector, then commissioned and produced a supporting video and included a Youtube link to this within the media release. A few months later, in conjunction with the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology, we organised at very short notice a media announcement by Minister Wayne Mapp at Dynamic’s premises – this was about a significant block of Technology Developments grants being awarded to several Canterbury-based high-tech firms, of which Dynamic Controls was one.
Dynamic has been a Convergence client for five years and in that time we have managed various media issues (including a significant group redundancy which attracted national media coverage), done profile raising in the aftermath due to a business turnaround (we organised a breakfast meeting and sourced speakers which was well attended by national media and the many influentials we recommended Dynamic invite) and distributed numerous product-related media releases to international media in the disability sector.
