Central Plains Water Irrigation Scheme

In late 2010 Convergence assisted the company to raise capital to progress its proposals. Work included organising community meetings, preparing written communications, managing a programme of personal follow-up to shareholders and media liaison. The offer was fully subscribed.

Convergence has worked with the CPW Project Team since 2006 providing strategic communications advice and while some of this has not been taken, the upside has been invaluable experience gained from working in a multi-disciplinary team (legal, engineering, shareholder directors, financial) and producing a range of outputs for incredibly varied audiences. We wrote an initial 27-page layperson’s summary of the scheme for ministerial and media briefings (incorporating the scheme’s history, technical overview, and its social, environmental, sustainability and economic benefits), managed all media relations, ghost-wrote opinion pieces for The Press and local newspapers on behalf of the Chair and Project Manager, organised ‘woolshed’ and drop-in meetings meetings, summarised submissions, presented in person at the hearing about the community consultation process CPW undertook, helped manage ongoing two-way communications with lobby groups and other interested parties, and attended regular Project Team meetings.
