Leigh Harris

Managing partner for Convergence, Leigh has 17 years experience in PR consultancy, corporate communications, and TV journalism and production. She is also Account Director for Christchurch office clients Richmond New Zealand, Ocean Partners, Orion New Zealand and Dynamic Controls.

Leigh specialises in corporate communications and is a regular presenter at the University of Auckland's Business School where she delivers their Short Courses programme on Media Training and Issues Management. With a background in television journalism and production, Leigh knows all the media tricks and tactics, and specialises in preparing clients for live interview situations.

Her TV experience as a presenter, reporter and director have also proved invaluable on video production and other projects requiring visual solutions. She brings a high attention to detail to each client project and enjoys simplifying complex and often highly technical information - such as the science associated with the environmental effects of the proposed $400 million Central Plains Water irrigation scheme.

Equally at home in more creative sectors, Leigh has worked with several of New Zealand’s leading fashion labels to raise their profile in local and offshore markets. Prior to forming Convergence, she was the communications manager for international brand marketer, Wools of New Zealand, where she was responsible for stakeholder communication and communicating with international staff and media. While at the helm she implemented a publicity campaign for Wools of New Zealand’s sponsorship of the first ‘New Zealand Four’ catwalk show at London Fashion Week - the campaign was Highly Commended in the 1999 PRINZ Awards (Public Relations Institute of New Zealand).

Having spent five years working for the New Zealand Wool Board and a range of other agriculture-related client work, Leigh has a sound understanding of the rural sector and keeps up to date with industry issues.
