A journalist for more than 20 years, Janine spent eight of those working as an editor and writer for financial news service BridgeNews in London, Sydney and Wellington. She loved the competitive atmosphere of one headline helping a client watching a screen in a dealing room somewhere in the world to make millions of dollars in a second or two. Janine is proud that she created that opportunity on many occasions.
Regular equities, foreign exchange and debt market commentaries were part of her repertoire, as well as news on companies, their earnings potential and in-depth analysis of events. Janine coordinated a comprehensive package of New Zealand stories for national and international readers, interviewed finance ministers and central bank officials and established a reputation for excellent analysis of economic and central bank news.
She has covered elections, budgets, meetings of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) group of nations and International Monetary Fund and World Bank summits. Janine has worked for The Australian Financial Review, afr.com, Money magazine, The New Zealand Herald, Property magazine, Good Returns, Agence France-Presse, Australian Associated Press, Australian fund manager Colonial First State and University College London. As a journalism tutor for Massey University and Aoraki Polytechnic specialising in business issues and economics, Janine has taught other journalists how to cover financial news.
