Christchurch manufacturer Dynamic Controls was keen to raise its profile and achieve positive media coverage about how the company had progressed, since announcing the year previously that it was shifting some of its manufacturing to China and up to 200 jobs could be lost. While most job losses didn’t eventuate and the company picked up new business in other divisions, the perception remained that Dynamic was in trouble and possibly shutting up shop in New Zealand. This uncertainty was having a serious effect on relationships with suppliers and existing customers, as well as staff and prospective employees.
The solution:
In addition to writing and distributing several media releases, Convergence conceived a new angle to help promote a ‘business breakfast’ Dynamic was planning to stage. We worked our contacts in Wellington to fully involve NZ Trade and Enterprise (the new Chairperson became a guest speaker) and supplemented Dynamic’s own invitation list with some of Canterbury’s business leaders. The event proved very successful with strong business community attendance and we achieved significant news media coverage across TV, radio, print and online.
